Cooperating Programmes

Master Programmes

sam-6The research-oriented Master programmes of the CDR have been cooperating for years and generate their courses from the disciplines of economics and social science (particularly macroeconomics and political science) and the administrative sciences. Courses are supplemented with substantial inputs from the fields of project management and empirical social research. The programmes are theory-based with a strong empirical focus. PhD Programmes

3dUWC as well offers a PhD programme in Development Studies and in Public Policy. For more information please have a look at the PhD options at UWC (link below).

Since 2007 the IEE/Bochum (Germany) runs the international English-language programme PhD in International Development Studies (PhD IDS). It is a structured PhD-program with a strong interdisciplinary and international focus.

Candidates applying for PhD studies at the CDR will have the opportunity to take part in some of the coursework of the PhD IDS.

Extension of the Call for (MA) scholarship applications for the intake 2022!

The new Call for scholarship applications for the intake 2022 is now open.

The NEW DEADLINE is 30th JUNE 2021!

This year only Master scholarships are published. We can NOT offer PhD scholarships for the intake 2022.

Details of the Call can be found in the respective sections of the Masters Development Studies and Masters Public Administration.

Only applications submitted via the online application form are eligible.

DAAD Alumni are the 2020 African Region Champions of the WECC

Our DAAD Alumni (Langton Moyo, Melisa Dlamini, Evans Sakyi Boadu and Philip Nyasha Fungurai) are the 2020 African Region Champions of the World Evaluation Case Competition (WECC). In this annual competition targeting Young Emerging Evaluators (YEE) from across the globe, our Alumni were representing South Africa, through the University of the Western Cape, and competed against 16 teams from across the world including Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, India, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom, Yemen and the United States of America. The African countries that took part in the competition comprised of South Africa, Kenya, Morocco and Cameroon, with students from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon, Daystar University, Maseno University and National Forestry School of Engineering.

As part of the competition, they had to prepare a Program Evaluation Proposal for the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation project on ''How to curb the spread of Human Trafficking in Vietnam during the Covid-19 Pandemic'', targeting Sustainable Development Goal 5, 8 and 16.
