sIVUKA takes place on Saturday, 26th November 2011

Sivuka
siVUKA! is a unique annual edutainment and community outreach event that brings together high class entertainment, higher education institutions and the local youths from all around Cape Town in Cape Town´s townships.

It is organised by the South African German Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice and the Anton Lubowski Educational Trust (www.aleducationaltrust.org).

The first siVUKA! event takes place on Saturday, 26th November 2011, 11:30 at:
The Business Place, Cwango Crescent, Cnr Landsdowne/Eisleben Road, Philippi/Cape Town (just around the corner from Cape Town Airport).

The pillars of siVUKA! 2011 are:

ENTERTAINMENT

3) Local Entertainment Acts from Philippi

EDUCATION
4) Motivational Keynote Speeches on " Education as Driver of Change":

* Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu (Chancellor of UWC)
* Prof. Brian O'Connell (Rector of UWC)

5) Educational Jamboree:

A one-stop-shop educational fair where HE and FET institutions and scholarship organisations in Cape Town showcase their programmes and inform about application and registration procedures: come, join and discuss with: UWC, DAAD, UCT, CPUT, UFS, Tseba, ASI!

6) Science Slam "Innovation for Development":

Researchers from Germany and universities in Cape Town present their development-related research in a highly accessible, entertaining and exciting way and compete for the title of "The Most Inspiring siVUKA! 2011 Researcher" to be crowned by the audience:
