The current global economic crisis hits developing countries' economies through a multitude of transmission channels. But effects of the crisis are different for developing country economies, depending on a country's integration into the international economy, institutional settings and so forth. The workshop therefore aims at discussing the specific effects of the crisis for Malawi.

The South African - German Centre for Development Research is located at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in South Africa and operated through the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE) of Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), Germany together with the School of Government (SoG) and the Institute for Social Development (ISD) of UWC.
